How To Apply
Applying for the Mark couldn't be easier: just call our helpline on 01392 456535. We’re here to help Monday to Friday, 9am til 5pm.
Simply, agree to the Terms and Conditions and we'll help you complete the online form.
When you register for the Mark and you will be sent your login details by email. Verify your login and you can complete the form or we'll help you.
In a nutshell, we need to know:
Does your company have social and/or environmental aims?
Does your company have it's own constitution and governing body?
Are at least 50% of the company profits spent on socially beneficial purposes?
Does the company earn at least 50% of its income from trading?*
Can your company demonstrate that social/environmental aims are being achieved?
If your company ceased trading would remaining assets be distributed for social/environmental purposes?
*Businesses trading for less than one year are unlikely to be able to provide evidence of trading over a reasonable period of time at the required level. If your business has been trading under a year please call 07790 908 829 to discuss your individual case.
Costs
It costs £99 plus vat, for each submitted application, for one year.
If you are a member of a group of companies, a separate application should be submitted for each company within the group, wishing to use the Mark.
The process
- You will be required to agree to the terms and conditions, submit your online application together with supporting documents.
- When you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive an automated email of acknowledgement, with a unique reference number for your application. If you don’t receive the email of acknowledgement, your application has not been received by our team of assessment experts.
- You now have a 7 day cooling off period, when you are free to change your mind and cancel your application. If you would like to cancel your application, please advise us as soon as possible by contacting apply@socialenterprisemark.org.uk
- When filling out the application form, you may find that you don’t fall into the categories provided. In this case, you will be able to complete some parts of the form with an explanation about your organisation.
- Your application will be reviewed by our team of assessment experts, overseen by our Certification Committee. You will be advised within 28 working days, if you have been successful. If you are unsuccessful, no payment will be taken from you.
Renewing your licence
Renewing your licence could not be simpler – you need do nothing initially!
- After 11 and 23 months of holding the licence, you will be sent a reminder email, asking you to complete your online renewal form (for years 2 and 3), together with payment. The form asks for some basic information about changes to your constitution, your recent accounts and achievements. If you remain eligible, successfully complete the renewal form and provide payment, your licence will remain in place.
- After 35 months of holding the licence, you will be required to complete another full application. You will be sent a reminder email as above.
