Social Enterprise Mark goes to S2S
April 28, 2010

The Social Enterprise Mark team arrived at S2S on 21st April and found themselves inundated with enquiries, requests and praise from the Social Enterprise industry.
The volcanic ash meant that Lucy Findlay and Anne Mountjoy arrived at the Scottish Trade Fair after a seven hour train journey, but once they got there it was clear to see their long journey was more than worthwhile.
The stand was buzzing all day and the consensus of opinion was that a unified Mark holds great potential. Lucy and Anne spoke about the achievements of the Fairtrade Mark, showing the kind of future that lies ahead for the Social Enterprise Mark and its ability to function as a clear, national signal of ethical business practice, which attendees clearly related to. The Trade Fair also saw almost forty social enterprises registering their interest for the Mark.
Lucy Findlay expressed her delight at the positive response generated at the Trade Fair: “At S2S, we had the busiest day we’ve ever had for the Mark at an exhibition and it was definitely worth the 14 hours return trip on the train. Lots of interest has been generated amongst Scottish Social Enterprises and we felt very welcome. The Scottish social Enterprises were really enthusiastic and we valued the opportunity to hear their views. Social enterprises say they are getting a product that they feel is valuable to them and that the Social Enterprise Mark is increasing the level of awareness amongst customers that is really needed to help them become more successful businesses.”
The team would like to send a big thank you to Antonia Swinson from the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition for all of her support. Thanks are also in order to all of the Scottish Mark holders and other exhibitors for their help in promoting the Mark throughout the day.
S2S was a real success for the Mark which highlighted its ever growing significance. The continued expansion across the nation shows once again that the Mark is on track to becoming a real force in British business.
