Furniture friendly marked for difference

Julian Williams, SOFA Project CEO believes many businesses are wrongly claiming they help the planet and society. “This detracts from those organizations who really do invest lots in making a difference. The Social Enterprise Mark will allow consumers not to be taken for a ride. Being awarded the social enterprise mark will allow SOFA Project to show people there is much more to what we do than just selling furniture and electrical appliances.

Often there’s not enough room in an advert to talk about all the great things we do. We have started placing the Social Enterprise Mark in all our promotional material, instantly people recognise SOFA Project is a bit different from other retailers.

Bristol is a very eco-conscious city. People are always looking for ways to reduce the impact they have on the environment.

By buying “green,” they can do this.  “Trading for people and planet”  helps encapsulate exactly what we do. Combined with our own strap line “Re-think, Re-use, Re-generate,”  it’s hard for eco-friendly people in Bristol not to think about us when they are looking to donate or buy new furniture and appliances. 

The hope at SOFA Project is that the Social Enterprise Mark will one day become as strong as “Fair-trade” in persuading people to purchase responsibly.
