BCT Group, the Bristol-based Social Enterprise Mark holder, operates Bristol Car Club. Bristol Car Club has been granted “accredited” status by CarPlus the national charity that promotes car clubs in the UK.

Bristol Car Club (www.bristolcarclub.org.uk) provides wheelchair accessible car hire on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. BCT wheelchair accessible vehicles are specially designed to accommodate at least one passenger in a wheelchair, and up to four other passengers. Whilst the vehicles have been adapted for wheelchair users, the vehicles are not restricted to use by the disabled.

Bristol Car Club is part of the not-for-private-profit BCT Group that operates a fleet of 29 vehicles for use by charities and social enterprises in and around Bristol. The majority of the fleet are adapted to carry wheelchair users.

Jan Jones, Chief Executive of the BCT Group, explained: “BCT operates Bristol Car Club in order to provide a flexible solution to those requiring a car on an occasional basis. We’re delighted to have been granted Full Accreditation by CarPlus. We hope to be able to locate more of our Car Club vehicles around the city in the future.”
