Bluebird Community Partnership was formed in 2000 as a registered charity and charitable company limited by guarantee. Its aim was to help and support the community of mid Sussex by providing accessible transport to all those who, because of disability, age or disadvantage had problems accessing public transport. This need was brought to our attention during an early affiliation with the West Sussex Association for the Disabled (WSAD) where we discovered the sheer quantity of residents struggling to complete day to day activities within their disadvantaged communities for lack of mobility and access.
The provision of transport for disadvantaged people can really help to improve the quality of their lives, which many able-bodied people take for granted. It enables them to go to work, visit friends, complete day to day tasks and generally, be more independent. Bluebird not only provides a link within the towns but also between villages. Without it, the area would be a much poorer place for residents with isolation problems, disabilities or lack of services.

Our current services include:
Dial-A-Ride - This provides door to door independence to people who experience restricted mobility, preventing them from having to rely friends and family, for those who have them, to get around, reducing social isolation
Group Hire - This provides affordable accessible transport for charitable and not-for-profit based groups. So far this is used by over 70 local organisations ranging from schools and adult educational groups to occupants of sheltered accommodation.
Hospital Patient Transport - Available on a daily basis to provide links between the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and the Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for patients, relatives and carers.
Excursions - Run weekly for all members.
We fund this work by taking on contracts with local authorities and the Health service to provide transport for Special needs children and non emergency patient transport respectively.
