Social Enterprise Works
Social Enterprise Works aims ‘to support, develop and promote the social economy by maximising the positive benefits of enterprise’. Social Enterprise Works have been providing business advice and support to the social economy in the Bristol area for thirteen years. Until November 2006, they were known as Bristol Area Community Enterprise Network (BACEN). They changed their name not because they have changed what they do but because they felt the name Social Enterprise Works said what they do and what they believe; that Social Enterprise Works.
Social / environmental aims
Social Enterprise Works provides guidance and practical business development assistance to prospective, newly formed and established not-for-private-profit social enterprises during critical periods of their start up and development.
Social Enterprise Works helps convert the untapped potential of these individuals and community groups into successful social enterprises that improve the lives and environment of communities.
Being a social enterprise themselves, Social Enterprise Works' values of empowerment, sustainability, accountability and equality inform the way they deliver their services. They offer a professional service which seeks to empower clients and promote sustainability. All Social Enterprise Works' advisers are assessed and accredited against the SFEDI standards for social enterprise advisors.
