    Social Impact Statements

The Social Enterprise Mark criteria includes a requirement that the applicant can demonstrate that social and/or environmental objectives are being achieved.

In support of this, new applicants and renewing Mark holders must submit Social Impact Statements that summarise their headline activities and achievements, helping show how they are striving to make a difference and stand up to scrutiny of purpose as a social enterprise.

    1) Addressing social isolation

Community Network is a social enterprise that provides telephone conferencing services at competitive rates, with unsurpassed customer services and with a social mission.

We set up peer support teleconference groups. Industry specific training and consultancy is provided to those developing peer support teleconferencing groups. The groups address the social isolation experienced by those who are marginalised from mainstream society, either due to old age, illness, disability, caring responsibilities, working practices or geography. The groups allow individuals to socialise with people and contributes to their re-connecting with their communities. Please click here to find out more.

    2) Delivering partnerships with third sector organisations

Community Network delivers partnerships with third sector organisations and provides training for organisations wanting to use telecommunications for social benefit.

Direct beneficiaries include participants in Talking Communities, which help people at risk of loneliness to meet up with their peers in groups, safely via the telephone.

    3) Benefits for recipients

As a result of our activities, organisations improve their offer to beneficiaries by using telephone conferencing to deliver peer support and volunteer training.

We deliver Talking Communities to our direct beneficiaries via regular volunteer hosted, via the telephone, peer to peer support groups.

In 2015 our volunteers hosted over 244,400 minutes of peer group support in total, resulting in improved social engagement, improved confidence and self-esteem, improved mental wellbeing and reduced feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
