Social Impact Statements
The Social Enterprise Mark criteria includes a requirement that the applicant can demonstrate that social and/or environmental objectives are being achieved.
In support of this, new applicants and renewing Mark holders must submit Social Impact Statements that summarise their headline activities and achievements, helping show how they are striving to make a difference and stand up to scrutiny of purpose as a social enterprise.
Updated March 2017
1) Creating sustainable employment for women at risk of sexual exploitation
We have invested in ethically sourced products to provide employment and freedom for women at risk of sexual exploitation.
2) Working with other social enterprises to create change
All of our manufacturing partners are social enterprises who reinvest their products and measure success in terms of human lives changed rather than pure profit.
One of our partners, Freeset, employs over 200 women. Collectively our other suppliers employ approximately 100 more women.
3) Providing education and creating employment
Each employee at Freeset receives health education classes, literacy and may classes, debt management training, support for children's education and intensive psycho-social group therapy.
During 2016 Global Seesaw helped create around 2,200 hours of employment for the women working within these freedom businesses.
