  • Since 1996, Crisis has provided one-to-one, family, group and counselling to over 36,000 people. We receive an average of 1500 referrals per year to our headquarters in Erskine, but deploy counsellors across 13 other local authority areas

    At Crisis, there is no ‘typical’ client or issue is focused on.  Instead, we have a range of clients from children to adults who come for support in a variety of issues including recovering from trauma or violence, relationship or familial breakdowns, work-related stresses, loss and bereavement, and more.  Our partnerships allow counsellors to work all over Scotland with a range of agencies including those in the health & social care sector, faith communities and business.

    We offer specific employee counselling for corporate and community clients, supporting employees who have experienced trauma or who are having trouble adjusting to changes in their everyday lives.  These counselling sessions generally result in a reduction to staff turnover, increased productivity, and improved staff morale. We also provide critical incident response and Business Continuity advice

    Social Impact Statements

    The Social Enterprise Mark criteria includes a requirement that the applicant can demonstrate that social and/or environmental objectives are being achieved.

    In support of this, new applicants and renewing Mark holders must submit Social Impact Statements that summarise their headline activities and achievements, helping show how they are striving to make a difference and stand up to scrutiny of purpose as a social enterprise.

    1) Delivering mental health support services

    Our key staff mentor, support, supervise and train over 40 new therapists every year from a range of sector backgrounds, whilst also reinvesting that expertise to our range of clients and customers.

    We had 1,697 face to face clients to 31st December 2016, who experienced a range of conditions. Since 5th January 2017, we have seen a further 674 referrals, who will be supported in the same way. Each client attends an average of 8- 12 sessions.


    2) Outcomes of support provided

    Once supported, our clients go on to contribute to family, work and community. This has the following effects:

    • helps reduce crime
    • improve health
    • build healthy and resilient communities, businesses


    3) Added social value of services

    The added social value of our services is immeasurable in terms of what happy, healthy, and physically and mentally motivated individuals can contribute to our communities.
