> Should we be Scaling Up (traditional growth model) or is Scaling Out (new doughnut economy model) a better option?
> What finance and investment options should we consider at different stages of our enterprise scale and growth life cycle?
> How does being an accredited social enterprise support our growth journey and help us ‘tell our social enterprise story’?
Welcome to our expert speakers taking part in this online session exploring growth options for social enterprises…
> Lucy Findlay MBE, Managing Director of Social Enterprise Mark CIC
> Melanie Mills, Good Finance Steering Group and Senior Director, Social Sector Engagement for Big Society Capital
> Julius Ibrahim, Director of Second Shot Coffee
> Kate Welch OBE DL MA FRSA, Chief Executive of Social Enterprise Acumen CIC
It has been well researched and documented that access to finance (the right finance) is a key barrier to growth, particularly across the social enterprise sector. SEUK’s ‘No Going Back – State of Social Enterprise Survey 2021’ cited that 36% of social enterprises found finance and funding a critical challenge. Lord Adebowale’s Commission on Social Investment Report (launched 26th January 2022) highlights a demonstrable need for more ‘enterprise centric’ social finance and investment.
However, with challenge comes opportunity…. and we discuss how good finance and social investment options are enablers for growth when done well, meeting the needs of the enterprise in a way that encompasses the right growth environment, and how social enterprise accreditation can play its part.
Join us for a guided discussion and be ready for the open Q&A with anything you want to ask our team or the speakers!
