This summer, Chocolate Films is running The Big Islington Animation; a free 2 day animation workshop for young people in Islington aged 13-19.

The course has been designed to support a range of needs. Over two days, participants will make their own animated film using 2D stop motion techniques and craft materials. They will also learn storyboarding and editing skills.

Day 1: In the morning, participants will split groups into groups of 4-5 for an animation taster. 4 animation stations will be set up, each with a different material for stop motion animation. This can be lego, light box silhouette, paper cut out, or plasticine. Each group will rotate around the groups to try out materials and to learn the principles of animation.

In the afternoon, groups will decide on a material for their film, and will storyboard their film. Young people will have the opportunity to change groups here.

Day 2: The participants will craft and animate their very own film in groups of 4-5 with one animation station in their chosen material. We will then have a screening of the films at the end of the day.

The workshops are completely free, however participants are asked to bring their own packed lunch.
