  • Roots HR CIC is the UK’s specialist consultancy for HR and H&S services for social sector employers. We enable organisations to improve performance and sustainability through better people management whilst ensuring compliance with employment law.

Founded in 2009, we operate as a social enterprise, providing high quality and affordable services to social sector organisations. We are the only HR consultancy in the UK to use our trading surpluses to provide pro bono (free) HR services and learning and development to leaders and managers working in social sector. Our consultants are all fully qualified professionals with extensive social sector and senior management experience. We provide services tailored to the needs of our clients and aligned to their respective cultures. We help employers to comply with employment law and to perform through great people management, thus minimising costs associated with poor people management and disputes and freeing organisational resources for frontline service delivery.

We are proud to offer high quality, affordable and tailored advice for the sector to access, with a great track record of satisfied clients. We offer generalist HR services including:

-resourcing (recruitment and selection, restructuring and redundancies, mergers and TUPE transfers)

-development of terms and conditions, handbooks and policies-employee relations (advice and case management relating to employment legislation e.g. family friendly, sickness absence, investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, staff forums and employee representation)

-performance improvement (induction, probation and annual appraisal)

-learning and development strategy, training plans, design and delivery

-reward (pay, benefits and non-financial reward)

-health and safety and risk management

-Senior manager and Board coaching and mentoring in relation to people management.

As a social enterprise, we reinvest our trading surpluses to provide free services to social sector organisations and to provide awareness and education to promote and improve people management within social society.

    Social Impact Statements

The Social Enterprise Mark criteria includes a requirement that the applicant can demonstrate that social and/or environmental objectives are being achieved.

In support of this, new applicants and renewing Mark holders must submit Social Impact Statements that summarise their headline activities and achievements, helping show how they are striving to make a difference and stand up to scrutiny of purpose as a social enterprise.
